Mewtwo is a Legendary Pokémon that can be obtained in the Pokemon Red, Pokemon Blue, and Pokemon Yellow versions of the video games. It plays an active role as the antagonist in Pokémon: The First Movie. In the movie, Team Rocket scientists extract a genetically enhanced Pokemon, Mewtwo, from a fossil of Mew. However, Mewtwo does not consent to being a laboratory specimen as its creators intended. Enraged, it kills its creators and destroys the laboratory in which it was created. It is believed that Mew is the only Pokemon who can defeat Mewtwo.
In the game
Mewtwo, being a Legendary Pokémon, is notoriously difficult to obtain; most players use their only Master Ball on it, as it is the hardest pokemon to capture. Mewtwo is well-known for its high-leveled stats, rivaled by only a few other Pokémon such as Deoxys and Arceus. In the Battle Tower and subsequent competitions, Mewtwo is banned from being used due to its high stats. Mewtwo also claims itself as the strongest pokemon ever, while the most powerful pokemon (in overall stats) is actually Arceus. However, Other the Deoxys in (attack form) Mewtwo still retains the highest special attack stat in the game making it the #1 best "Special Sweeper since the first generation of the pokemon series. Also though in the first Pokemon movie says Mewtwo was a clone in the Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow, Fire Red, Leaf Green versions it says in a diary in the Pokemon Mansion that Mew gives birth to it.
