Piplup
Piplup is the Water-Type starter in Pokemon Diamond/Pearl. It is found only at the beginning of the game when you go out to Lake Verity with your rival, and best friend. When you arrive you see a suitcase which you must look inside of when two Starly attack you and your rival who is also your best friend. Piplup is one of the three starters in D/P which includes Chimchar, Fire type, Turtwig, the Grass type, and of course Piplup, the Water type. This is the only way to get Piplup. The only other way to get Piplup is to either A: Trade it or B: Get it by Wi-Fi or a very famous option C: hack it. Piplup evolves into Prinplup at lvl 16, and then into Empoleon at lvl 36. When it becomes Empoleon, it acquires a second type, steel, making Empoleon one of the most unique dual types.
In the Anime
Piplup made its debut in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, Episode 1, Following A Maidens Voyage! In this episode, Piplup runs off on a chase with Chimchar , who stole Piplup's food, which caused Piplup horribly upset. They run off into the woods and, at that very moment, Dawn comes into the lab, where she discovered that two of the starters ran off. With this and the fact that one of these Pokemon might be her choice, Dawn volunteers to help find Piplup and Chimchar. She soon finds Piplup. Piplup, however, is not as happy to see her. Then a swarm of Ariados storm in after Piplup hits its nest in the middle of his and Dawn's fight. With quick thinking and help from Piplup's powerful Bide, Dawn manages to trick the Spinarak and Ariados away. But now, Piplup's hungry and Dawn just wasted most of her Pokemon food. But there were still two pieces left, which she gave to Piplup. At that moment Dawn befriended Piplup, and it was then that Dawn's adventure began.
