Emmet and Ingo watch as White loses again and again to virtual trainers. Finally they announce that the train has almost reached Anville Town, so the testing will stop. White sits and takes a break, reflecting on her terrible skills at battling.
Suddenly White hears someone speak from the corner of the car and for the first time sees Shauntal sitting there with a notebook. Shauntal is bashful but enthusiastic as she explains she is an aspiring novelist seeking inspiration, but their conversation is interrupted when they see Tornadus and Thundurus battling under a great storm in a field of crops.
Shauntal jumps with excitement and exclaims that this is why she's here. The train stops because lightning activates the automatic locking mechanism. Shauntal leaves the train and goes out into the rain to watch the pair of legendary Pokémon fight.
White tries to call her back, concerned about the danger, to no avail. Seeing that the farm field is being destroyed by Tornadus and Thundurus, White gets out herself and attacks the Pokémon, hoping to interrupt their battle, but the two don't even notice the weak attempt.
Recalling something Black told her, White identifies the Pokémon, impressing Shauntal. The woman calls out a Jellicent and attacks Tornadus and Thundurus, enraging them further and intensifying their battle against each other. However, Shauntal's plan is revealed when Landorus appears, grabs Tornadus and Thundurus, and vanishes with them. Shauntal says that she wanted to see the three as inspiration for her next novel.
Shauntal finally introduces herself to White and the two of them get on the train. As they do so, Shauntal reflects that for a moment there she thought she had seen three pokéballs capture the three legendary Pokémon and be ferried away by a shadow.
