Maryann is excited that a strong gym leader seems interested in helping her investigate, but Norman immediately kills that idea, declaring that he is only interested in his son. Norman strides in and takes control, looking at the security tapes he does not have clearance to see. He then dives into the water and determines the sea current, picturing the path it would have taken Ruby on.
Norman then jumps onto a water vehicle and takes off.
Maryann is not too disappointed, reflecting that Norman's intensity and determination ensures that he will find Ruby, who can tell her more about the Kaien I's thieves.
Ruby and the swimmer have been fishing all day; it has become night. They notice a Zangoose and a Seviper beginning to fight. They accidentally catch the attention of the wild Pokémon as they flee. Ruby notices that his PokéNav is missing. The Pokémon attack them. Seviper's fangs pierce Ruby's pokéballs, rendering them incapable of opening.
At that moment, the Feebas Ruby rejected leaps out of the water, Ruby's PokéNav in its mouth. The swimmer realizes that Ruby must have dropped his PokéNav and the Feebas had been trying to return it the whole time. Feebas lands in Ruby's arms and starts to glow, just as Zangoose lunges in to attack…
