Agatha is a member of the Elite Four in Generation I and its remakes, who uses Ghost-type Pokémon. She was Professor Oak's rival when they were young.
Appearance[]
Agatha is an old woman, who has short yellow hair. She wears a white apron and is supported by a brown cane.
Red, Green and Blue[]
Agatha wears a long violet sleeveless dress and black shoes. She also wears a white shirt.
Yellow[]
Her outfit in Yellow is the same as it is in Red, Green and Blue.
FireRed and LeafGreen[]
Agatha wears a shorter purple dress with sleeves. She also wears purple shoes and gray leggings.
Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee![]
Her appearance slightly differs with the addition of green shrubbery on her shoulder and her cane now slightly resembles a Gengar.
Personality[]
Professor Oak told Red he learned to accept Pokémon as equals, and when he told Agatha, she told him he was crazy. Oak also tells the player, that after not befriending her Pokémon, she became a "Twisted old Woman, who hated children and never had friends".
Etymology[]
The name Agatha could come from "aghast" (scared), "hag" (an unpleasant or malicious older woman) or "agony". It may also reference murder mystery author Agatha Christie.
Her Japanese name, Kikuko, comes from 鬼 (ki, ghost or demon) and possibly 菊 (kiku, the Japanese name for the chrysanthemum).

- In her first battle in Pokémon FireRed/LeafGreen, all her Pokémon are female. In the second and subsequent battles, they are all male.
- In Pokémon FireRed/LeafGreen, the anime, and Pokémon Masters EX, Agatha has a Poké Ball embedded on her walking stick. In The Challenger, it was revealed to house Gengar, he last Pokémon.
